The Mechanic's Tale: Life in the Pit-Lanes of Formula One

by: Steve Matchett
My appreciation for his comments during F1 racing on SpeedTV has expanded. His attention to detail, his race team experience and his humility as reveiled in this little book makes him much more than a talking head.
I recommend the book to those who watch auto racing and those who are starting their adult life, but don't have a plan.

The Science of Formula 1 Design: Expert analysis of the anatomy of the modern Grand Prix car

by: David Tremayne
As promised by the title, this book provides lots of information about the technology that goes into Formula 1 cars. The writing is easy to read, the photographs and sketches are well-chosen, of good quality and easy to follow. Even the constant struggle between politics, technical evolution and the need to keep the playing field level finds its place in the book.

Now that the Super Aguri F1 team has gone, if you are wondering just why the sport is so expensive, you'll find the answer here-supported by some impressive statistics.

The Complete Book of Formula One (Complete Book Series)

by: Simon Arron, Mark Hughes
Good quality of text and photos. Perharp I'd like more information about circuits

Senna Versus Prost: The Story of the Most Deadly Rivalry in Formula One

by: Malcolm Folley
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Formula One was at its most explosive, with thrilling races, charismatic drivers, nail-biting climaxes—and one of the most dangerous rivalries ever witnessed in sports. Two of F1's most honored champions and iconic figures drove together for McLaren for two seasons, and their acrimonious and hostile relationship extended even after one of them had left the team. Alain Prost was France's only F1 world champion, an intelligent, smooth driver with the epithet "Le Professeur," while Ayrton Senna was the mercurial kid from a privileged background in Sao Paolo who would become the most intense and ruthless racing driver the world has ever seen.
